Blog Thirty-five

Hello

Extensive non-plussed mutter this month; Pinterest have decided to take exception to several pins and have removed them from several boards. What I can’t understand is why they should remove a pin saved from the Homefeed – ie, an existing Pinterest pin rather than an imported image. One of the latest is an image of an interracial lesbian kiss, so what part of that is offensive? The interracial aspect? – a racist judgement then; the lesbian aspect? – a sexist/misogynistic judgement then; the kiss itself is considered offensive?? And NOW the latest censoring involves the removal of two entire boards – the hidden original board for Conquests, and the adjusted public version. It would appear I need to sanitize to the point where the boards are less than interesting.

It continues – whole batches of pins removed, including one showing a fully-clothed model reclining with nothing sexual in any way! And it seems to be okay for my Homefeed to suggest pins showing murderous, vicious looking knives, daggers, machetes and swords. How is that considered acceptable when people loving each other isn’t?

Since writing the above rant, my boards appear to have been left alone over the past couple of weeks. Fingers and everything else crossed… Okaaaay, I have created a replacement board for Conquests, and interestingly, three pins of a more sanitized nature were rejected by the software in charge of pin publishing.

Nope, spoke too soon. It now seems Pinterest have changed their approach – previously I would receive an email telling me a pin had been removed with a link showing me which one. Now, they are simply removing without notification, and a significant number have now been censored. Hey-ho.

Oh, and Tradie-lady writing continues apace. I can’t resist including some silly humour – actually with a basis in anecdotal reality – I’ve just changed names.

Signing off with the hope I can make you smile – a bit.
